General Offer of Service (GOS)
All non-permanent teachers must sign a GOS by the end of April, which is around the corner. If you miss this deadline, you will lose your hiring priority. So don’t delay.
- See the GOS here attached.
CRT Follow-up: PD as a Taxable Benefit
We were informed at CRT of the College’s revised position concerning PD as a taxable benefit after we had previously submitted the materials from our preliminary investigation. The Admin did not admit they made an error, but they did admit a more ample interpretation of the tax laws was possible. We will be following this up with further legal investigation. However, for now:
- Any activity done -in-house, that is using Vanier’s gym facilities or taking classes here will not be taxed, retroactive to Jan 1 2018 (not before, because the Admin does not admit error).
- For Phys Ed teachers, activities that they take that are shown to be directly related to their courses will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and if the link is demonstrated, they should not be taxed.
- General fitness is not being deemed a requirement for Phys Ed teachers’ job and so outside gym facilities and general activities will be taxed.
Funding for Master’s and Retraining
The FNEEQ forms are now available to obtain funding towards a Masters degree (5-4.21) or retraining (5-4.22). The deadline for submission is May 15, but it is recommended to get it in as early as possible. You must download, and save the Excel file before using, then sign the forms and either email a scan (cpnc@education.gouv.qc.ca) or mail in the paper copy.
- Please find the forms here attached.
The Estates General for Higher Education
This is a rare opportunity to come together with the different key figures involved in higher education, from students to CEGEP teachers to contract teachers, to have our say and to make a stand that higher education be a priority for the upcoming provincial elections this October! Main topics of discussion will be the financing of higher education, college governing structures, and insecure or precarious employment.
- Join in the discussions May 3 (5pm), 4 and 5 (from 9am), at UQAM, Salle Marie-Gerin-Lajoie (Pavillon Judith-Jasmin), local J-M400.
Long-term Substitution
If you have done substitution that exceeds 10 days and have not been paid entirely in CI during the last two years, please contact us! This would be a change in practice and we would like more information in order to get the proper documentation for our investigation.
